Paul Armstrong

Meet the Team: Paul Armstrong, LCV Business Development Manager

Meet the team is back! This month we catch up with LCV Business Development Manager Paul Armstrong who is new to the business as of this year.

Tell us a bit about you Paul: I have been in the motor trade longer than I would like to remember but specifically working for Mercedes Commercials for just under 15 years.

Where are you from?  I was born in Staines but moved to Grove near Wantage at an early age, where I basically grew up. We moved to Salisbury when I was 14 and at 16 I joined the Army. After leaving the Army I went back to Salisbury area where I first joined the Motor Industry.

How long have you been working at Mercedes-Benz South West? I started with Mercedes-Benz South West on the 1st of May 2020 and spent the first 2 months working from home, speaking with all my old customers to explain where I was and what we were looking to achieve.

Favourite Mercedes-Benz model? My favourite model is still and I believe will always be the Vito Sport Crew Van. It’s an enjoyable drive and sitting high up is also great.

Have you always been in the motor trade? What did you do before? Before I joined the Motor Trade I was a musician in the Guards Division based at Knightsbridge in London.

Favourite part of the job? The best part of my job is the handover of the vehicle! You take your customer on their purchase journey and then you get to see them drive away all happy with their new Van.

What’s your favourite animal? Do you have any pets? I am a cat person and now only have 1, misty who is 9 years old.

How many attempts did it take you to pass your driving test? My uncle taught me to drive way back (he was the chauffer at Oxford University Press) and I can always remember him telling me the mirrors are to let you know that the Police were behind you. Hence I didn’t use my mirrors enough so 2 attempts later I passed.

Which radio station are you listening to when you drive? Classic FM is my favourite radio station which is always on in the background.

Favourite place to visit in the South West? My favourite place to visit in the South West is Lyme Regis. I love the walks and they have a great fish and chip shop.

Favourite Band/Artist? My favourite band actually is currently the best brass band in the world – Cory Band from Wales – Brass Banding is in my Blood.

First concert you ever went to? I actually played on the Sunday morning of Glastonbury on the Pyramid stage playing to 1000’s of people, 7 years on the trot. Very smelly when you arrive though.

Tipple of choice? I love my Cider.

If the world ends tomorrow, what would you choose as your last meal? Steak please.

What’s at the top of your bucket list? I don’t really have a bucket list, I tend to enjoy life as it is.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I’m looking forward to cuddling my newly born Granddaughter, although just down the road safety first.

Finally… Jam then cream, or cream then jam? Jam, cream, strawberry on the top.
