We have an exciting opportunity for an Finance Assistant focusing on the Purchase Ledger element of the finance function within our Mercedes Benz Dealership in Exeter. The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday shift dependent on the business needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of accurate information for the Finance team.

Role and Responsibilities

For multiple retail/non-retail sites across the business:

  • Coding invoices (Nominal ledger) for posting on the purchase ledger
  • Obtaining invoice approval in line with company delegated authority matrix
  • Downloading invoices and statements for purchase ledger accounts
  • Reconciling supplier statements/purchase ledger account
  • Resolving purchase ledger queries with the wider business
  • Preparing batch payments & ad hoc payments for approval
  • Reconciling actual vehicle costs v estimates with vehicle stock records

Posting of invoices to the Purchase Ledger for:

  • Vehicle purchases/adoptions
  • Vehicle taxing
  • Broker payments
  • Parts costs
  • External third-party costs/ Supply chain payments
  • Overhead costs/general expenses/ad hoc invoices
  • Training invoices

Assisting the wider Finance team with other duties such as:

  • Opening and sorting the post
  • Monitoring the Accounts email inbox
  • Posting of invoices/charges to the purchase ledger for:
  • Credit card receipts
  • Petty cash costs
  • Drivers’ expenses/other expenses
  • Fuel card costs
  • Ad hoc invoices
  • Inter-company recharge reconciliation and raising invoices
  • Other work as work as required


£18,000 – £22,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)

About you

  • Previous experience within the Motor industry
  • Good numerical and administrative skills
  • Competent level of computer skills
  • Good telephone and interpersonal skills
