We are currently looking for a General Manager at our Plymouth dealership. The working hours for this position are Monday to Friday 08:00-18:00 with a 1 hour lunch break.

Within this role the successful candidate will be responsible for the Sales & Aftersales departments for the Mercedes-Benz PC, LCV & smart franchises as well as maximizing sales, tracking KPIs and managing agreed budgets and costs.

General Manager Responsibilities: 

  • Promotes the Mercedes-Benz culture of quality and excellence for self and team
  • Manages the sales & aftersales operations in line with the Company and Mercedes-Benz standards and processes
  • Monitors sales progress and takes action to meet targets agreed in the business plan
  • Delivers vehicle sales, service and parts sales
  • Controls costs and maximises profit margins to meet business targets
  • In conjunction with the Groups Marketing Manager, formulates and implements marketing plans for the business
  • Analyses current procedures and identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Communicates and influences colleagues across all business areas
  • Initiates meetings to drive sales and generate ideas/solutions from the team
  • Communicates and develops strong personal relationships with customers to maintain their continued loyalty

  • Consults with customers to establish their needs to deliver a high level of service

  • Maximises the use of all advertising and point of sale material
  • Ensures the sales & aftersales teams have full knowledge & understanding of product, promotional & marketing activities
  • Provides training & support to the teams to improve product knowledge and competitor awareness to increase sales & aftersales opportunities
  • Develops the capabilities of individuals/team through the performance management process providing coaching/training
  • Ensures all areas of Health & Safety operate effectively and within the requirements of the law
  • Builds good relationships with manufacturers, professional bodies, suppliers and statutory representatives
  • Ensures all capital outlay is authorised by their line manager or a director
