It's Spring Clean Season!

16 Mar 2026

Spring has finally arrived, bringing brighter mornings, longer evenings, and the perfect excuse to give your Mercedes‑Benz some well‑deserved care. Keeping your vehicle clean doesn’t just make it look great; it also helps protect vital components from wear caused by mud, dirt, and other road debris.

This Spring Clean season, we’re sharing our best tips and tricks to help you care for your Mercedes‑Benz. A regular, thorough cleaning routine enhances your driving experience and helps maintain your vehicle’s value. For finance customers, it may even help avoid additional fees at the end of your agreement.

Interior Cleaning Routine

A clean cabin isn’t just visually pleasing, it boosts comfort and protects interior materials over time. How often you clean depends on your lifestyle, passengers, and even pets. As a general rule: deal with spills or mud as soon as possible. Otherwise, a quick monthly refresh using the steps below should keep things in check.

  1. Remove any rubbish and take out the car mats for separate cleaning.
  2. Use a vacuum to thoroughly clean the cabin, reaching into gaps and crevices.
  3. Clean the inside windows, then move on to the seats and surrounding upholstery. Treat footwells for deeply embedded dirt.
  4. Wipe down the dashboard, steering wheel, centre console, and door trims.

Exterior Cleaning Routine

If you enjoy giving your Mercedes‑Benz a showroom‑quality shine, you’re not alone. To help you achieve the best possible finish at home, our professional valeters have shared their expert 13‑step exterior routine:

  1. Pre‑wash using a traffic film remover or pre‑wash foam; rinse with clean water to remove grit that could scratch your paintwork later.
  2. Apply wheel cleaner, agitate with a soft brush, then rinse.
  3. Using the two‑bucket method (one with shampoo, one with clean water), wash the vehicle with a microfibre mitt - starting at the top and working down. Rinse the mitt frequently.
  4. Rinse off shampoo using clean water, ideally from a hose or pressure washer.
  5. Dry the car with a microfibre towel or chamois.
  6. Apply a quick detailer spray to help dry the surface without streaking.
  7. Decontaminate paintwork with a clay bar to remove bonded contaminants.
  8. Apply polish to the body panels using an applicator pad - avoid direct sunlight.
  9. After 20-40 minutes, buff off the polish with a clean microfibre cloth.
  10. Inspect the panels to ensure no residue remains.
  11. Clean windows using dedicated glass cleaner and two microfibre cloths: one for cleaning, one for drying.
  12. Wipe wheels with a microfibre cloth.
  13. Finish with a tyre dressing for that true showroom look.

While frequency depends on how often you drive and where, following this routine every few weeks will help preserve your paintwork and keep your vehicle looking its best.
