Meet the Team: Matt Squire, Assistant Service Manager at Mercedes-Benz South West

Our team is at the heart of everything we do here at Mercedes-Benz South West, from Sales to Service and everything in between. So, it’s time for our next Meet the Team instalment, and this month we’re taking you to the Service Department in Exeter, to meet our new Assistant Service Manager, Matt.

What’s your role at Mercedes-Benz South West and what does a typical day look like for you?

I am the Assistant Service Manager here in Exeter and a typical day for me includes motivating the team and keeping them organized and maximising our After Sales opportunities.

How long have you been with the company, and what drew you to work here?

I’ve been with City West Country for nearly 14 years. I originally worked in a body shop and often worked on Mercedes-Benz, so I had a good relationship with Vince Ewing (our Group Warranty Manager) and I’ve always had an interest in Mercedes-Benz cars.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Mercedes-Benz South West?

Every day there is a different challenge to overcome but, most of all, my favourite thing is our team effort to deliver the Mercedes-Benz “The Best or Nothing” customer service.

What's one project or achievement you're particularly proud of?

I’m very proud to have won two awards for Mercedes-Benz of Exeter from Bumper, which provides our customers the option to spread their payments for After Sales work.

A personal achievement of mine would also be joining the company initially as a Service Team Manager to my recent promotion to Assistant Service Manager.

If you could switch roles with anyone else in the company for a day, who would it be and why?

That’s a really tough one, but I would love to experience what it’s like to work in the Sales department to see how I could adopt my current set of skills and Service experience.

What’s your go-to driving song?

It depends on the mood! I like mostly classic rock, like Nothing Else Matters, by Metallica.

What’s your guilty pleasure film or TV show?

I don’t really watch much TV but my favourite film is probably Man on Fire, with Denzel Washington.

What's your favourite Mercedes-Benz model and why?

I really like the GTs or a C63, because they are fast and look great.

What do you like to do when you're not at work?

I like to go running, walk the dog, go to the gym and have a swift pint at the pub!

What’s a fun fact your colleagues might not know about you?

On a lad’s holiday, a long time ago, me and my friend got matching stick men tattoos 

Have you got a hidden talent or party trick?

I do a great impression of Eric Cartman from South Park

If you could have dinner with any three people (dead or alive), who would you choose?

I would like to have dinner with Sir Alex Fergerson and my Grandparents.

Where would be your dream holiday destination?

Bora Bora, in French Polynesia. I’m also very excited about going to San Francisco this month!
