15 Feb 2018
Mercedes-Benz of Exeter share the love and cakes this Valentine’s Day for the British Heart Foundation’s life saving research. Staff at the Exeter showroom joined the fight against heart disease and held a Cake Sale for their customers, driving an increase in donations from the Exeter community for the nation’s heart charity. The event was held in their stunning showroom, raising awareness of the campaign to fight for every heartbeat. The Mercedes-Benz of Exeter team raised a grand total of £120.08 throughout the day. Lauren Marsh, Front of House Supervisor, said “We are so thankful to everyone who donated and took part in raising funds for the British Heart Foundation. I am very proud and impressed with how much we have raised and we all hope it will make a real difference”. Joy Petley BHF Fundraising Manager for Devon and Cornwall added: “Our local companies play a crucial role in helping us win the fight against heart disease. Not only do they raise vital funds for our lifesaving research, but they also help raise awareness of the devastating impact heart disease in our communities and how we can protect against it”. “I am so excited that Mercedes-Benz of Exeter has chosen to help beat cardiovascular disease this Valentine’s Day. The dedicated support shown from the team is truly heartwarming”. Cake Sale Sadly, over 270 people die from cardiovascular disease in Exeter alone each year. The British Heart Foundation is funding £1million of research in Exeter, aiming to discover vital treatments to change the fight against heart disease. One of the research projects taking place in the Exeter laboratories, tests the fascinating idea that we can predict, prevent and slow down the development of heart diseases by looking and treating the kidneys. Ill functioning kidneys causes significant problems to your health and affects millions of people in the UK. One in three people will develop some level of kidney disease in their lifetimes. It’s a condition that costs the NHS £1.45bn per year, and it kills more people than prostate cancer or breast cancer.
