Meet the Team: Jack Perkins, Used Car Controller

Welcome to July's Meet the Team. This month we are speaking with Jack Perkins from Mercedes-Benz of Plymouth. Jack has been with Mercedes-Benz South West since 2014 and has recently moved into the role of Used Car Controller. Outside of the office, he is currently preparing to take on a huge new role too. Tell us a bit about yourself Jack: I’ve been in the motor trade pretty much all of my working life. I started out selling for Renault and Dacia before moving across to CWC and the rest is history. My partner Kate and I are expecting our first child in October so life’s about to change dramatically! Where are you from? Saltash – I’m just about Cornish and proud. How long have you been working at Mercedes-Benz South West? I’ve been with CWC for 7 years now starting as a Sales Executive back in 2014. Favourite Mercedes-Benz model? (old or new) Definitely the S500 Coupe, although I’m not sure it’s overly suitable for a child seat! Most memorable day at work you’ve ever had? Definitely walking in on my first day. It has always stuck with me how it must feel to be a customer walking in for the first time. Have you always been in the motor trade? What did you do before? I joined the motor trade at 19 after spending 18 months at a letting agent. I’m now 10 years in and still going strong. Favourite part of the job? The people. We all know how stressful and demanding representing Mercedes-Benz is so having a great team makes the job so much easier. What’s your favourite animal? Do you have any pets? Dogs, without a doubt. I have a Cavachon called Alfie who is the leader of my house. If you’ve ever seen a Cavachon you’ll understand that I don’t look very macho walking him. Best holiday you’ve ever been on? Paphos in Cyprus – Swim up bar… say no more! How many attempts did it take you to pass your driving test? Just one. Which radio station are you listening to when you drive? TalkSport. Favourite place to visit in the South West? Probably Padstow or Rock. Favourite Film? Goodfellas. Favourite Band/Artist? Oasis. First concert you ever went to? Liam Gallagher at Finsbury Park. Tipple of choice? It’s got to be Peroni. What would be your Karaoke song? Whatever it was, nobody would understand me as I get the words to every song wrong (ask anyone in Plymouth). If the world ends tomorrow, what would you choose as your last meal? Christmas dinner with all of the trimmings. What’s at the top of your bucket list? Just in case Kate sees this (she usually finds everything out), I’ll say my wedding next year. What are you most looking forward to this year? Becoming a father, although I’m properly nervous about it. Finally… Jam then cream, or cream then jam?  Jam then cream!
