Product Spotlight: The Brand-New all-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA250+

Set to be “The most intelligent car we’ve ever built”, this September sees the launch of the brand-new Mercedes-Benz CLA250+ Coupe and Shooting Brake. This first fully electric compact model is equipped with a wealth of new features, a new and improved operating system and a “frunk”. Come with us to take a deep drive into this new model.

The new CLA250+ Stats

The CLA250+ with EQ Technology is a Rear-wheel drive company Coupe, boasting 268 horsepower, 335Nm of torque and a top speed of 130mph (which you can reach in your dreams or on Germany’s Autobahn…). With a battery capacity of 85kWh, the new coupe provides an impressive 484 miles of range (WLTP) and can charge up to 200 miles in just 10 minutes, with a rapid AC-DC public charger. If you require a little more juice, the CLA will get you from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes; plenty of time to grab your favourite coffee and refresh yourself for the journey ahead. Standard Equipment As part of your standard factory-fitted features, your new CLA250+ Coupe comes equipped with a Multi-Functional Steering Wheel, a 14” central display fitted with an interior camera with facial recognition and video function (that’s a shiny new feature) a Fixed Panoramic sunroof, to increase the natural light within the cabin and LED High-Performance headlights. From a Driver Assistance point-of-view, you can enjoy the brand new highly advanced MB.0S operating system, which includes a highly advanced Virtual Assistant and the integration of Google Maps on your navigation system (welcome to the future!). For added practicality, the model comes with our first ever frunk – a 101-litre front storage compartment where you’d usually find your engine and, of course, the necessities: heated seats, Blind Spot Assist, and a Rear View Camera.

Upgraded Trim Options

If you enjoy “all the bells and whistles” on your new car, on top of the standard equipment you can choose from these additional trim levels and a selection of their respective additional equipment:

• Sport Edition – Sport body styling, 18” light alloy wheels with 5-twin-spoke design, Smartphone Integration, Privacy Glass, and the Parking Package with Reversing Camera.

• AMG Line Edition – AMG Line body styling, 18” AMG 5-spome light alloy wheels, Light carbon-grain aluminium trim elements, seamless door handles, KEYLESS-GO, Ambient Lighting and Wireless Charging.

• AMG Line Premium Edition – AMG Line body styling, 19” AMG 5-Spoke light-alloy wheels (which you can change to High-Gloss black for an additional cost), Matt white natural fibre silent lines trim elements, Night Package (which includes black trim around your windows, wing mirrors and side skirts – it’s sexy), Memory Seat Package, MULTIBEAM LED + Adaptive High Beam Assist Plus and an Entertainment Package. 

Personalisation on your new CLA250+

The AMG Line Editions come with three ARTICO interior upholstery options in Black/Clean White Pearl (as opposed to dirty white…), Black/Power Red or the classic Black with Red Stitching – a Mercedes-Benz classic. If you’re not familiar with ARTICO, this is a synthetic leather material which is extremely hard-wearing. Your standard paint options, which are no additional cost, are Polar White or Night Black (both solid paints), but if you prefer a little more depth to your paintwork, you can choose from Cosmos Black Metallic, Sapphire Blue Metallic, Patagonia Red Metallic (which you may recognise as the primary model launch colour) and the stunning Alpine Grey (a solid colour, and a solid choice). For trim levels that do not include the Memory Seat Package (only included on the AMG Line Premium Edition), you can add this as an optional extra for an additional cost.

The New MB.0S Operating System in the all-new CLA250+

“The brain of the new CLA” – The operating system controls four areas of the CLA250+, including the infotainment, automated driving, body and comfort, driving and charging. Here is a breakdown of the features:

• Virtual Assistant with AI – the new MBUX Virtual Assistant revolutionises the relationship between you and your car, using collective knowledge from the internet through ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing. • Navigation, including Google – Mercedes-Benz and the world’s most popular search engine (sorry Bing), the best of both worlds!

• Over-the-air-capabilities – thanks to the supercomputers that are equipped in the CLA250+, over-the-air updates of the entire vehicle software are enabled, meaning fewer visits to your local service team to update systems, such as driving assistance.

• Unity 3D Game Engine – a cross-platform game system for interactive experiences including games, apps and immersive simulations.

• New generation of ADAS – The next level driving assistance systems on the CLA250+ include eight cameras, five radar sensors, twelve ultrasonic sensors and a water-cooled supercomputer (wow!).

• All-New User Interface – The new enhanced zero-layer MBUX display allows you to personalise your home screen and move apps around freely, similar to your smartphone display.

• Ambient Styles and Staging – your cabin, your style – tailor the lighting, animation and sounds to suit your mood.

• MBUX Superscreen* - does you passenger princess need entertaining? Fear not, the 2026 upgrade will come equipped with an upgraded 14” passenger screen including gaming and streaming apps, such as Disney+.

• MBUX Surround Navigation* - Another 2026 Model Year upgrade will include an advanced navigation system with real-time traffic and other road users, such as cars, motorcycles, bicycled and pedestrians.

Important Charging Information

The new electric architecture on the CLA is based on newly developed, efficient, and powerful 800V technology, which enables equally powerful and efficient charging, including the stats we discussed above. Due to this, the Mercedes-Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence will always direct you to a compatible 800V charging station (as a 400V station would not provide a sufficient power output) and will also use algorithms to optimise your travel time and reduce overall charging time.
