Government confirms that Car Deliveries are Permitted During Lockdown

The government has officially confirmed that car retailers are able to both sell cars online and deliver them under the current COVID-19 lockdown. The news has been welcomed by car retailers, and we at Mercedes-Benz South West have fully adapted our sales process in order to continue offering exceptional service for our customers.

Following clarification from the government, the National Franchise Dealer Association confirmed that handover of vehicles can continue to take place, as long as the process matches the guidelines set out by Public Health England.

Our Sales Director, Luke Yetman, welcomed the news: “We have been working tirelessly for some time to adapt our approach to match the current circumstances, and have been able to sell cars online since the lockdown began.  We have expanded our ability to offer walk around videos of our vehicles, for customers to share images and videos of part exchange vehicles for an estimated valuation, and to leave reservation deposits. The latest clarification from the government validates our approach and gives the green to light to continue to offer a completely sanitized and free delivery service. We’re extremely pleased to be able to offer this, and look forward to getting vehicles to customers as quickly as possible, whilst respecting the values of social distancing.”
