Meet The New Mercedes-Benz GLC

06 Feb 2023

Meet the new Mercedes-Benz GLC, redesigned throughout and bursting with all the latest and advanced equipment, driver-assistance systems and visual highlights, all while delivering the assured Mercedes-Benz luxury SUV drive. We're excited to reveal that it's finally arrived in our showrooms across the South West.

Electrified Powertrain

The new GLC is available only as a hybrid: choose from either mild hybrid or a plug-in-hybrid. The mild hybrid units receive intelligent support in the low RPM range with an integrated second-generation starter-generator (ISG) in conjunction with a 48-volt electrical system. If you opt for the plug-in-hybrid, you can choose from three more engine variants, including an all-electric driving offering a range of over 100 kilometres, perfect for those everyday short journeys and commutes.

The 48-volt electrical system enables systems such as “gliding”, boost or recuperation and thus significant fuel savings. You can also expect outstandingly smooth running when idling, due the intelligent interaction between the ISG and combustions engine.

New Mercedes-Benz GLC Exterior Design

At first glance the new GLC is immediately recognisable as a member of the Mercedes-Benz SUV family. Both the front end and rear end have been redesigned to obtain the vehicles expressive and stand-out design. At the front, one feature you can’t help but notice is the headlamps that connect directly to the radiator grille to emphasise the vehicle’s broad body.

Front and centre the typical Mercedes-Benz SUV radiator grille has a chrome surround with a redesigned cut-out. This houses a sporty louvre in matt grey with chrome trim and the grille with vertical louvres in high-gloss black. From the AMG Line specification upwards, the Mercedes-Benz pattern is available which includes a three-dimensional star.

The sporty appearance is enhanced by the wide track and flush wheels at 18 – 20 inch size, both visually appealing due to their modern design high sheen finish and efficient due to their aerodynamic optimisation.

At the rear, the new two-section rear lights do a great job in emphasising the vehicles width and dominance. You’ll notice the rear end also has a simulated chrome under guard, which encases the simulated chrome-look tailpipes.

Optional extras include rear light animation, DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps with additional daytime driving light ellipses and new blue trim, active floor lighting, and much more.

New Mercedes-Benz GLC Interior

‘The perfect balance of sport and luxury’ is what comes to mind when experiencing the new GLC’s interior due to the adoption of the AVANTGARDE Line and developing it with unique GLC characteristics.

One of the first interior features to catch the eye is the driver-orientated curved centre console, which seems like it’s floating just above the trim area to the left of the driver’s seat positioning. The slight angle of the central console display makes it seamless and convenient for the driver to interact with.

Using the high-quality touch screen, the driver is able to control and manage vehicle functions such as navigation easily. At the bottom of the central display which has a screen diagonal of 11.9 inches (30.2 centimetres), you’ll find the fingerprint scanner which you can use to access your preferences as the vehicle owner.

Like the centre console, the dashboard is clear from the driver’s perspective. The lower section has a generous trim area that flows seamlessly in to the cured centre console. The dashboard is slightly angled toward the driver by six degrees, increasing its visibility and adding to the sportiness.

The introduction of AVANTGARDE Line in the new GLC is revealed in the seat design as a result the combination of layers and contoured surfaces, lending the seats visual lightness. The head restraints have been redesigned too to offer a new and luxury appearance.

The new GLC is available with a whole host of optional extras and standard equipment for specific model lines, including open-pored veneers in brown tones, black wood veneer featuring fine, form-following inlays in real aluminium, and direct ambience lighting.

MBUX: The Latest Generation

The new Mercedes-Benz GLC becomes the third model after the S-Class and recently facelifted C-Class, to come equipped with the second generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system. As a result, the interior experience becomes more digital and intelligent. The LCD screens make operating the vehicle’s functions easy and efficient. The combination of the MBUX and the new centre console display provides the driver with a true holistic and aesthetic experience.
