Meet the Team: Nick Shaw, Group Van Buyer at Mercedes-Benz South West Vans

What’s your role at Mercedes-Benz South West and what does a typical day look like for you?

I’m the Group Van Buyer and my job typically involves a lot of driving. For example, on Monday, I drove to Dorkin, then Stanstead, Heathrow and back to Exeter.

How long have you been with the company, and what drew you to work here?

I recently returned to the company after leaving in 2023, following 14 years with the company. I started as a Sales Executive here in Exeter, then a Transaction Manager in Plymouth before moving to Truro as  Sales Manager.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Mercedes-Benz South West?

The communication, including our Directors.

What's one project or achievement you're particularly proud of?

Returning to the business and hitting the ground running.

If you could switch roles with anyone else in the company for a day, who would it be and why?

I would actually love to be a Host on reception as I love chatting to people. You can’t shut me up usually!

If your team had a mascot, what would it be?

A badger.

What’s your go-to song for driving?

What’s your guilty pleasure playlist or TV show?

Yellowstone

Which Mercedes-Benz van would you be and why?

A Drop-side Tipper

What do you like to do when you're not at work?

I actually grow my own vegetables in my garden and I recently picked some huge radishes

What’s a fun fact your colleagues might not know about you?

I am almost entirely covered in tattoos, including a matching Bumblebee tattoo with my wife and two kids.

Have you got a hidden talent?

I am an avid and accomplished baker.

If you could have dinner with any three people (dead or alive), who would you choose?

Ohh that is a hard question! Maybe Elvis… I’ll go with Oliver Reed, Janis Joplin and Teddy Swims.

Where would be your dream holiday destination?

Iceland

What would your last meal on Earth be?

Plateu fruites de me. I’ll be eating lots of it this weekend in France!
