Meet the team: Lee Nash, After Sales Director

Lee has been with Mercedes-Benz South West since 2010. For nearly 9 years he acted as General Manager for our Plymouth dealership before accepting the position of Aftersales Director at the end of 2018. “I was born and raised in St Albans, Hertfordshire and started my career at the local Vauxhall car dealership, selling cars. The dealer worked on a commission only basis, so very much a sink or swim environment –a great (albeit steep) learning curve. I progressed my career by joining Mercedes Benz of Watford five years later - which led into a bigger role with the Lancaster Mercedes Benz Group where I stayed until my wife and I decided to relocate to Devon in 2003. After working at Grange Jaguar & Aston Martin for a few years I joined Mercedes Benz South West as General Manager for Plymouth.” Favourite part of the job? The most satisfying and rewarding part of my job is seeing the development of people who with the right encouragement, training and support will always shine and consistently deliver great results. Favourite Mercedes-Benz model? (old or new) - I am a fan of the older classic Mercedes models, so it is likely I would choose something like a Pagoda SL, although the new GT4 looks pretty special. Any Pets? Yes, I have a grumpy little dog-called Mollie; she is a 13-year-old black Miniature Schnauzer. Have you always been in the motor trade? Prior to starting my car sales career I worked as an Area Sales Rep, selling automotive components to the motor trade – So in reality, the Motor Trade Industry is all that I know. Best holiday you’ve ever been on? Probably a sailing trip to the Caribbean to celebrate a significant birthday. How many attempts did it take you to pass your driving test? Passed first time. What radio station are you listening to when you drive?  Radio 4 in the morning and Radio 2 for the drive home. Favourite place to visit in the South West? Watergate Bay, Cornwall – Best place I know to unwind, relax and a great beach for a dog walk – even Mollie appears happy when we visit there. Favourite TV Show to binge watch? I am watching Series 3 of Billions at the moment. Favourite Film? Goodfellas Favourite Band/Artist? I listen to a lot of different music, I don’t really have a favourite band, it depends on what I’m doing I suppose. Normally anything upbeat for the gym. But bands like Oasis, Rolling Stones or Coldplay also feature on my playlist, but I do regret not seeing Queen perform live when I had the chance. First concert you ever went to? Brian Adams at the Milton Keynes Bowl in 1991 – I think ZZ Top were supporting (if anyone remembers them)! Tipple of choice? Red Wine normally, Rioja is a favourite. What would be your Karaoke song?  Cannot answer that, as it is never likely to happen. If the world ends tomorrow, what would you choose as your last meal? Steak & Kidney Pudding from my local pub. What are you most looking forward to this year? From a work perspective, it is getting involved and understanding my new role as After Sales Director, so very much a learning year, but I do have a habit of challenging the norm, so that always interests me.
